Beier Precisa IIa

Title: «Beier Precisa IIa»

About half a year ago, I wanted to experiment with medium format photography. Since I didn’t really like my Soviet-era “Lyubitel 166V”, I bought a Beier Precia IIa from a friend who sold me my Canon A-1 last year. It’s an amazing 1950s vintage rangefinder camera for 120 film. Unfortunately, rangefinder is completely broken on my camera, so I have to figure out the distance by eye.

When I bought it, it had a serious problem with the aperture, which wouldn’t close when taking a picture. I had to spend a little more and take it to a technician. By the way, here is a photo of the leaf shutter if anyone is interested:

The problem turned out to be that because the camera hadn’t been used for a long time, oil had leaked into the leaf shutter and gummed up the diaphragm blades. Now it works perfectly without any issues. Yes, the repair was quite expensive, but it was worth it. Just look at that interesting distortion at the edges of the photo. I don’t know, maybe it’s a lens effect, and it always shot like that, but I really like it:
